On June 24, 2025, the “O-MU-TSU WORLD EXPO” was held at the EXPO Hall “Shain Hatto” in Osaka, Kansai World Expo.
O-MU-TSU WORLD EXPO is an event that aims to create a world where “everyone can enjoy fashion, even if they have disabilities or concerns about elimination,” and proposes the future of diapers from the perspectives of welfare, healthcare, and design.

The venue had a capacity of 1,900 and was fully booked during advance registration. A talk show and the Future Diaper Collection featured 31 diaper designs made around the theme ‘Rock & Mode,’ presented by 31 models of different ages, body types, nationalities and physical circumstances.
At the Future Diaper Collection, seven adult diaper manufacturers—Kao Corporation, Koyo Co., Ltd., Hakujuji Co., Ltd., Daio Paper Corporation, Nippon Paper Crecia Co., Ltd., Unicharm Corporation and LiveDo Corporation—joined innerwear manufacturer Wacoal Corp. Together, the eight companies presented designs that went beyond conventional ideas of diapers.

At the talk show, Terry Ito, a stage director, and Norishige Kanai, a cosmonaut with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and Kei Hirabayashi, the representative director of the Japan Welfare Medical Fashion Association, appeared.
Also, assistance was received from ambassadors and advisors from around the world, including Seiko Noda, a member of the House of Representatives, Koichi Sai-mura, the honorary president of the NPO Japanese Continents Association, Jack Sim, founder and director of the World Toilet Organization, and Janice Chia, founder and managing director of Aging Asia.
This event was made possible through the support of 52 organizations, including the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and through collaboration with many participants, including diaper manufacturers, innerwear manufacturers, traditional craft companies, sponsor companies, models, costume designers, hair stylists, interpreters, and venue management. After the event, it was covered by more than 100 media outlets both domestically and internationally.

Hiroshi Yagi (second from the left) helped plan and run O-MU-TSU WORLD EXPO as deputy representative director of the organizing Japan Welfare Medical Fashion Association. The initiative presented diapers to the world through fashion, accessibility and social participation.
