Unicharm compares caregiver lower-back loading during different diaper-changing methods
Unicharm used motion measurement and musculoskeletal simulation to compare bed-based changes of tape-fastened adult diapers with toilet-based changes of pull-on adult diapers using a toileting support lift. For insert-pad-only changes, the cumulative loading index with the lift was 40 when bed-based changing was set to 100. This preliminary investigation used one pair of adults acting as caregiver and care recipient. Product types and settings also differed, so it does not establish a product-only effect or prevention of back pain. The conference was held on September 5–6; the report was published on October 16.
Lifree Nobiru Fit tape-fastened adult diapers updated with split tapes and a blue positioning line
Unicharm announced an updated Lifree Nobiru Fit tape-fastened adult diaper range, rolling out across Japan from early October 2026. Acty large cleansing wipe towels, in a 60-sheet pack, changed to a textured sheet designed to be thicker and softer than the previous version. 1 year of the AI chatbot: answering customers’ questions 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
LiveDo Corporation announced the first anniversary of the AI chatbot on the official Refré website. It answers questions about product selection, use, absorbency and purchasing 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The company reported approximately 3,500 uses by around 1,900 users between August 2025 and the end of August 2026.
TENA Soft Wipes hanging pack scheduled for January 5, 2027
Unicharm Mölnlycke announced a hanging-pack version of TENA Soft Wipes, disposable paper towels for body cleansing that can be used dry or moistened. Daio Paper announced updates to all 14 products in the Natura Sarahada Sarari Omamori absorbent liner series. The 10 products measuring 17cm use a new slit-line design intended to improve absorption speed. Changes to the 20.5cm, 15cc product mainly concern its packaging. The entire series was scheduled for nationwide release on November 1, 2026.
Launch of Charm Nap ultra-thin slim pads: approximately 2mm thick※1 for comfort like wearing 1 layer of underwear※2
Unicharm is launching Charm Nap ultra-thin slim light incontinence pads for women nationwide on September 15. The 3cc and 5cc versions are approximately 1.5mm thick; the 10cc, 15cc and 30cc versions approximately 2mm; and the 50cc version approximately 2.5mm. A flexible absorbent core and mesh sheet are designed to follow body movement and feel comfortable against the skin.
Attento seminar explores improving care quality through diaper selection
Daio Paper co-hosted a practical seminar with the Japanese Society of Pressure Ulcers academic conference for hospital and care facility staff, examining diaper selection and care quality. Alongside research on skin problems and examples from care settings, it covered the construction of products developed through industry–university collaboration, absorption experiments and diaper placement. The seminar had 79 participants.

Daio Paper announced updates to Attento Ultra-Thin Pants Shitagi Sokai and Attento Thin Pants Shitagi Kibun. Light gray was added alongside elegant pink beige, offering a choice of underwear-like colors and shapes. The packaging was also redesigned, with nationwide release scheduled for October 21, 2026.
New Attento ultra-thin absorbent pants and smart boxer pants
Daio Paper announced disposable Attento ultra-thin absorbent pants and Attento smart boxer pants. The former are a briefs style jointly developed with Wacoal; the latter are lower-rise boxer-style pants. September 3, Sleep Day: reducing nighttime discomfort and anxiety across life stages through a scientific approach to sleep quality and daytime performance
For Sleep Day, Unicharm introduced efforts to reduce nighttime discomfort and anxiety. It reported that three large trucks carrying supplies collected from 20 companies in Shikokuchuo City had departed for Kumamoto Prefecture. Hakujuji announced an e-GIFT campaign for purchasers of Salva Ateraku One-Pad Overnight High Absorbency incontinence insert pads. Customers buying an 18-pad or 27-pad pack could send a receipt image via LINE to enter a draw, with 100 winners each receiving ¥3,000 in e-GIFT credit. The entry period ran from July 1 to October 20, 2026. The campaign has ended. The original campaign page is no longer available; Hakujuji’s official news list still records its July 1 announcement.

Unicharm is rolling out a summer-limited version of Lifree ultra-thin underwear-feel pull-on adult diapers nationwide from late May. A sweat-absorbing sheet absorbs and disperses moisture around the buttocks. The company says drying is 10 times faster than its previous product and temperature inside the diaper is reduced by 2°C. The waist section is also half as thick, addressing trapped moisture and bulk in hot weather.

Product price revision announced
Oji Nepia announced price revisions across its products, including tissues, toilet rolls and adult diapers. Adult diaper prices would rise by at least 10% from shipments on August 1, 2026. The company cited persistently high raw material and fuel costs, rising logistics and labor costs, and unstable raw material procurement, saying the revision was needed to maintain quality and stable supply.
Three Nepia Tender Yakan Kaimin Pad Denbu Care overnight pads launched to help prevent skin problems and reduce the burden of nighttime diaper changes
Oji Nepia announced three Nepia Tender Yakan Kaimin Pad Denbu Care overnight incontinence insert pads for launch from May 28. Features included a sheet described as reducing urine return toward the buttocks by approximately 70%, a structure that absorbs in the crotch area, and a sheet that lets liquid stool pass through for absorption. The products aimed to reduce skin burden and leakage during longer wear, and ease the care workload associated with nighttime diaper changes.
Household paper product price revision announced
Kami Shoji announced a price increase of at least 15% across its household paper products, including tissues, toilet rolls, kitchen towels and diapers, from deliveries on July 1, 2026. It cited continued increases in raw material and fuel costs and import costs associated with the weaker yen, explaining that cost reductions and productivity improvements alone could no longer maintain existing prices.

Omutsu Navi and Kaigo Plus linked with Nemuri CONNECT
On April 15, Koyo began system integration linking its Omutsu Navi urine-volume detection sensor and Sanwa’s Kaigo Plus continence support system with Paramount Bed’s Nemuri CONNECT monitoring support system. Sleep status and an insert pad’s absorption status could be viewed on the same screen. The integration aims to support assistance that follows daily routines and reduce the effort of checking multiple screens.

Among its new and updated products for spring 2026, Nippon Paper Crecia added a 36-pad pack of Poise wide, high-absorbency skin-care pads. These women’s light incontinence pads are 35cm long; the new pack offered a larger quantity of the existing product.
